Cat Door to the Bathroom

Cat Door to the Bathroom

In small apartments, the best place to put a litter box is the bathroom. The cat can calmly, without being disturbed, go to the temple of contemplation and take the position of cat in the wild. It’s also easier to maintain cleanliness in a tiled room. Cats like to spend time in the bathroom; they feel safe there, sprawled out in the sink. Since leaving the door open to this place is not hygienic, the owner – a handyman should install a small door just for the cat.

Cat owners are surely familiar with the situation when their pet stands at the door with a pleading look, asking to be let in. As we know, we just can’t ignore the cat’s wish; we open the door and our little monster, after a moment of hesitation, gives up. Of course, after a while, the situation repeats, and the cat, when having a good day, takes advantage of our kindness on the third try. The bathroom door for cats not only saves us from constantly getting up but also ensures that the cat won’t trick us anymore.

If the cat’s litter box is in the bathroom or toilet, this convenience means that we do not have to keep the bathroom door constantly open, nor do we have to open it for the cat that is knocking during a family member’s toilet or bath.

Cat doors usually consist of a frame with a horizontal flap attached at the top by a hinge, which the animal can push up with its head to pass through the opening. In simple mechanical cat doors, the flap closes tightly with magnets.

More complicated models have additional features: an electronic cat flap is equipped with a sensor that recognizes the cat’s chip or a microchip placed in its collar and opens the door only for the selected animal.

For the bathroom, traditional doors are sufficient, which the cat can cleverly open with its paw or nose.

When choosing cat doors, attention should be paid to the material from which they are made and how they look. This will facilitate their installation and avoid surprises during use. The doors should open easily.

When selecting doors, measure the cat to ensure that after assembly, it won’t turn out that the pet can only get its head through. An additional advantage of the doors may be their aesthetic execution, such as an interesting design tailored to the style of the door and apartment.

When installing the cat flap, it is important to ensure the hole is at a convenient height for the cat, not too low. Installation of the cat door to the bathroom is usually simple enough that the owner can do it themselves by following the instructions attached to the product. Moreover, even if the hole is cut not too expertly, the doors will still cover it.

You can install the cat door not only in the door but also in the wall; however, this requires building skills. For example, you can create a tunnel in the wall and place the doors in it. You can also create a niche in the wall, reduce the wall by the height of a brick, or use a drywall panel in the cutout.

The prices for cat doors range from 50 to 300 zlotys.
